Luke Campbell will fight in Birmingham later this week.
The Olympic champion has been added to Matchroom Boxing’s show at the Barclaycard Arena on Saturday, live on Sky Sports.
Campbell, who’s been out of action since a third round stoppage in March at Hull’s Ice Arena, will box over eight rounds against 16-fight Aboubeker Bechelaghem.
He’ll feature alongside Matthew Macklin, who’ll fight Sandor Micsko over the same distance as he comes back from defeat and looks to get back in to world title contention in the middleweight division.
Macklin’s opponent was originally meant to be 22-year-old Ferenc Albert, but it was changed today after the Hungarian pulled out.
‘Resurrection’ on May 9 is topped by Stourbridge welterweight Sam Eggington as he and Ghana’s Joseph Lamptey vie for the Commonwealth title vacated by Frankie Gavin.
Campbell’s fellow Olympic gold medal hero Anthony Joshua faces Brazilian heavyweight Raphael Zumbano Love over eight rounds as he warms up for his May 30 WBC International title defence against American former world title challenger Kevin Johnson, while Liverpool super middleweight star Callum Smith returns over eight rounds after a seven-month absence.
Birmingham star Kal Yafai will make his flyweight debut as he fights for the second time in six weeks and his unbeaten brother Gamal will continue his rise in the pro ranks over eight verses.
Midlands fighters Lennox Clarke, Dan Breeze, Michael Rooney and Jordan Cooke all taste action as Eddie Hearn brings Matchroom back to the Second City for the first time in 13 years.
