Carl Frampton pulls out with injury

By Paul Webb

Unbeaten Carl ‘the jackal’ Frampton (16-0 11KO’s) has unfortunately had to pull out of his 20th July fight against Everth Briceno (35-8-2 26KO’s) due to an old ear problem recurring. He announced the news on Twitter and his manager Barry McGuigan confirmed this adding that he was “bitterly disappointed” that his man had to pull out.

The decision was made by the British boxing board of control and in a licensed fight their decision is final, it is a blow for Frampton as this was due to be his first fight on Boxnation, with his new promoter Frank Warren keen to get him on the bill at the Wembley Arena which is due to be headlined by Finchley’s Derek Chisora.

The show will go on as planned and hopefully Frampton and the board will be able to resolve this issue as it would be a shame to see him out of the ring for an extended period.

Tickets to Saturdays show are available from eventim.co.uk

It is being broadcast by Boxnation
