Chisora To Return At Wembley

By Elliot Foster (@FreelanceFoz)

Dereck Chisora will return to the ring later this month.

The Finchley heavyweight has thrown down the gauntlet to the rest of the division after it was revealed that he would step back through the ropes, live and exclusive on BoxNation (Sky channel 437/HD 490, Virgin channel 546 and TalkTalk channel 415).

Chisora, who stopped Beka Lobjanidze inside 30 seconds in July, is in private negotiations with Germany’s Erkan Teper to challenge for the European crown in the sport’s elite division, but he is set to box at Wembley’s SSE Arena, for the second time in as many months, as he marks time ahead of that proposed fight.

His return — which is his second outing since last November’s stoppage defeat to Tyson Fury — will come on September 26, as part of the undercard to support a Frank Warren-promoted world title bill, which sees Frank Buglioni challenge for the WBA super middleweight strap against Russia’s Fedor Chudinov.

Elsewhere on the card, Lewis Pettitt will face Midlands Area featherweight champ Bobby Jenkinson for the vacant Commonwealth super bantamweight title and Jamie Cox defends his WBO European super middleweight bauble against Belarusian dangerman Sergey Khomitsky.

Elsewhere, Cromer battler Ryan Walsh is set to face Hull’s former Commonwealth title challenger Samir Mouneimne for the vacant British strap and ex-British and Commonwealth welterweight title challenger Bradley Skeete is slated to put his WBO European bauble at stake against Heywood’s Mark Thompson.

And Ahmet Patterson will face Danny Butler in an official eliminator for the British light middleweight title as Jamie Kavanagh, the Dublin lightweight, makes his MGM Promotions debut after signing a four-fight deal.

Wembley light middleweight Gary Corcoran, who won a British title eliminator against Rick Godding last time out, will feature on the bill, while enigmatic Cardiff-based lightweight Romeo Romaeo and undefeated Boy Jones Jr. are both set for action.

Tickets, priced at £40, £50, £75, £100 and £150, are available from Eventim on 0844 249 1000 and www.eventim.co.uk now.

They’re also available from Wembley’s SSE Arena, at the box office, by phone on 0844 815 0815 or online at axs.com.

Disabled tickets can be purchased by calling 0208 782 5629.
