Terence Crawford put on a ‘tour de force’ performance, to showcase why he has been hailed as one of boxing next global superstars. In the battle of the undefeated, and a claim for supremo as the best junior welterweight king of the world. Viktor Postol with is height advantage, couldn’t handle Crawford’s speed and tenacity.
Crawford dominated Postol in a lopsided 12 round fight, all three judges scored the bout: 118-107, 118-107, and 117-108 in favour of the Nebraska native. Postol from Kiev Ukraine was able to neutralise Crawford’s speed and skills for first 4 rounds, at that point all three judges scored the fight 38-38 with no clear favourite.
The fifth round was pivotal for Crawford, he caught Postol (28-1,12KO’s) with his left hand that forced him to touch his right knee to the mat for a knockdown. Referee Tony Weeks called another knockdown when Crawford landed a powerful left hand in the same round, which forced Postol to touch his gloves to the mat to keep is balance. The next couple of rounds after the fifth was pretty much- a walk in the park- for Crawford.
With arguably the best victory of his boxing career, Crawford will see his name rise on the pound-for-pound list and may be on his way to becoming a global pay-per-view star. A super-fight against Manny Pacquiao may be on the horizon. Postol’s trainer, acknowledge Crawford’s boxing ability after the fight by saying:”He was just too fast for us. I was surprised how fast and how good he was. I’m very impressed by his talent.”
After the fight, Crawford was asked about the possibility of a future bout against the Filipino great. To which he replied,” If Bob Arum wants the fight and my coach wants the fight that’s something we will talk about later”. I am a fighter and I’ll fight anybody. Crawford said I’m happy and I’m about to go on vacation. We not worried about Manny Pacquiao right now.”by
