Fagan To Top Ellesmere Port Bill In Title Fight; McVarnock & Co. Feature

By Elliot Foster (@FreelanceFoz)

Matty Fagan will fight for his first title next month.

The lightweight is set to top the bill at the Ellesmere Port Sports Village on July 25.

Fagan, 27, will come up against Andrei Podusov –– the Tommy Gilmour-managed Latvian who beat him on points in Liverpool last October –– and will be joined at the newly-refurbished sports centre by gym-mates Ciaran McVarnock and Mason Cartwright.

Belfast super featherweight McVarnock, 23, will look to maintain his unbeaten record as a pro when he steps through the ropes for a fourth time, while 22-year-old flame-haired Cartwright will also look to pick up his fourth victory in the paid ranks.

Elsewhere, Scouse light heavyweight Ryan Vaughan, bantamweight Ryan Farrag, English cruiserweight champion Matty Askin, undefeated Wigan man Davey Price and Wrexham’s Kerry Evans are also expected to feature on the bill.

Tickets for the event, priced at £40 and £60 (ringside), are available to purchase from longshotssports.com.
