Frank Buglioni has won his first pro title by stopping tough Stepan Horvath to claim the WBO European super-middleweight title at the Copperbox Arena, London.
Buglioni has only been a pro for two years and already held a perfect record of 10-0, 7 KO’s going into this bout, was taking a step up in class against Horvath, who had won 11 of his 12 previous contests.
The 24-year old Londoner dominated from the first bell, using his jab to good effect and using impressive head and body movement to avoid Horvath’s left hand. The Czech fighter did have his successes, but rarely troubled the impressive Buglioni.
Horvath did enjoy his best round in the seventh, but he was on borrowed time. Because in the eighth round Buglioni landed a sickening left hook to the body which left Horvath keeled over in pain. He recovered and managed to beat the count, but Buglioni was straight on him and landed the exact same shot to finish the fight just before Horvath’s corner threw in the towel.
Frank Buglioni moves to 11-0 with 8 KO’s and on being crowed the new WBO European super-middleweight champion he will now gain a top 15 world ranking with the WBO, and if he makes a couple of successful defences he could break into the top 10. So watch out for “The Wise Guy” to be in some exciting fights next year.by
