Frank Warren – Thoroughbreds
By: Jordan Stone
This Saturday Frank Warren and his promotional stable return to Liverpool for a night of boxing headlined by local Flyweight Kevin Satchell and Super Flyweight Paul Butler, there is also a lot of undercard talent on the bill including the team GB Olympic captain Tom Stalker, Manchester’s Terry Flanagan and more local Fighters in Jazza Dickens and Ryan Farrag who is in a 8 round domestic tear up against Jason Booth. Its also England v Scotland in what could be the fight of the night as oldhams Ronnie Heffron takes on unbeaten John Thain from Edinburgh.
Paul Butler defends his WBA International and WBO intercontinental titles aganist Oreste Bernabe Nieva (15-2-2) from argentina as Butler attempts to step up a level as this will be the Baby faced assasin’s third 12 round fight. Butler will be looking to make the step up to world level this year as he has acomplished everything at british level and targets a summer fight with current IBF world champion Stuart Hall but may have to get in line with the likes of Jamie Mcdonell. Kevin Satchell carries on his road to the top in his 12th proffesional fight on saturday night as he defends his commonwealth Flyweight title against Isaac Quaye from Ghana and it should be a routeen fight for Satchell but im sure he will have some problems along the way.
A domestic tear up is ensured in complete 50/50 fight as Ronnie Heffron is taking on Edinburgh man John Thain over 10 rounds in what I believe will be the fight of the night, Heffron has only lost one fight and the was for the commonwealth title against Denton Vassell but other than that he has a perfect slate, this fight will be both fighters first 10 round fight and it will be John Thain’s first real test, this is sure to be a great fight and could be the making of both of these fighters.
Thomas Stalker is back in action as he is still recovering from a long term injury that has kept him out of the ring for over a year, The Captain is trying to get back into the swing of things in a 6 round contest. Jazza Dickens is also in a 6 rounder as he tries to get his career back on track after he was knocked out by Kid Galahad in a British title fight last september. A good domestic fight between bantamweights Ryan Farrag and Jason Booth will also take place on saturday night as Farrag fights in his first 8 rounder against he very experianced Booth. Farrag has a perfect record except for one minor blemish where he lost to lee haskins in prizefighter back in 2011. Jason Booth will be attempting to get his career back on track after 6 defeats in his last 7 fights although they have all come against top class fighters which include Scott Quigg, Kid Galahad, Lee Haskins, Kiko Martinez, Martin Ward and Willie Casey. Terry Flanagan fight in a 8 round contest aswell as matty fagan, Steven Lewis and Liam Williams who all fight in 6 rounders against opponents thats are yet to be confirmed.
It should be another good night of boxing on Box Nation From Aintree, Liverpool. Where I can see all the favourites getting victories and some good domestic fights. Another good show to look forward to from Mr Frank Warren.
