Groves To Challenge Jack In Vegas, Gets August Date

By Elliot Foster (@FreelanceFoz)

George Groves will challenge for the world title this summer.

The Hammersmith puncher, 21-2 (16), has twice been on the wrong end of world title challenges against former four-time world champion Carl Froch, will be hoping it’s third time lucky when he challenges for Badou Jack’s WBC super middleweight title.

Groves, 27, will face the American-based Swede — who has a ring record of 19-1-1 with 12 stoppages to his name — in Las Vegas on August 22, with a venue to be confirmed in due course.

Jack snatched the title against former holder Anthony Dirrell back in April and was ordered to face mandatory challenger Groves within 90 days.

And a deal was done nearly a month later, meaning no need for a purse bid meeting and a chance for the Londoner to box Stateside.
