Eddie Hearn has revealed that the proposed rematch between Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko “is happening”.
The Matchroom promoter also revealed that they are looking at Dubai, USA and Cardiff as possible places to stage the heavyweight clash.
“The situation is the fight is happening unless we are told otherwise by Bernd Boente and Klitschko, who have a meeting this week.” Hearn told Sky Sports. “So many offers this week – Nigeria, Dubai, America and also we have the opportunity of Cardiff…”
Joshua holds the WBA and IBF titles, which means AJ has a mandatory for his IBF crown against Kubrat Pulev. However, Hearn believes a decision from the governing body will be made this week on whether the rematch between the two heavyweights can take place before mandatory obligations are met.
“I think we will get a decision on that this week.” Said Hearn. “We can’t not fight Pulev, he’s not going away and we’re not going to shirk that fight.
“If we don’t fight Klitschko, the Pulev fight will 100 percent be next.”by
