Keith Thurman Vs. Jesus Soto Karass Set for December 14
By: Andrew McCart
On December 14 Adrien Broner and Marcos Maidana will headline a stacked pay-per-view card, when they go head-to-head for Broner’s WBA strap, at the Alamodome, San Antonio, Texas.
Fighting on that card will be exciting young prospect Keith Thurman (21-0, 19 KO’s) who will look to remain undefeated when he takes on tough Mexican, Jesus Soto Karass (28-8-3, 18 KO’s).
Thurman who holds the ‘pointless’ WBA interim title (which is incomprehensible as he will be fighting on the same bill as Broner who holds the full WBA title and Maidana who holds the WBA international title) is coming off a very impressive win, in which he stopped then undefeated Diego Chaves, back in July. Headlining on that same bill, Soto Karass upset Andre Berto, stopping him in the 12th round.
This is definitely a step up in class for the 24-year old Thurman, as Soto Karass has shared the ring with guys like Andre Berto, Marcos Maidana, Mike Jones and Gabriel Rosdado; all of whom have been or fought world champions.
Also fighting on the undercard will be Leo Santa Cruz, who will be making his first defense of his WBC super-bantamweight title against tough Puerto Rican Cesar Seda.
After Mayweather/Alvarez, Bradley/Marquez and Pacquiao/Rios this show will need to be stacked with talent, in order to ensure fans are willing to pay for the event. Particularly as it is scheduled so close to Christmas.by
