Manchester’s Kieran Farrell has announced his next show on September 2nd at Bowlers Arena in Manchester. The Heywood man is committed to bringing value for money professional boxing to the public with tickets started at £20 for the September show in Manchester.
The events location, Bowlers Arena was the venue for Farrell’s last outing as a professional where he was edged by now WBA World Lightweight Champion Anthony Crolla in what was a superb scrap for the English title. Farrell who tragically had to retire in the aftermath of the Crolla fight has put his time into a gym in Heywood on the outskirts of Manchester and more recently has started managing and promoting fighters. The Manchester native’s work has not gone unnoticed as he was recently awarded the British Empire Medal by the Queen for his services to boxing and the community.
The September 2nd show is already filling out to be a stacked card. with Liverpool’s Jay Carney will have his first fight under Farrell management. Carney who is based at Derry Mathews’ gym in Liverpool will be looking to make an impact in his sixth professional contest.
George Brennan will make his professional debut on the September 2nd show and Farrell has high hopes for Brennan who spends his days working in the Kellogg’s factory.
“I train George and he’s a really dedicated kid. He had over 70 amateur fights and I really believe that he has a big future. George is my most latest signing and I encourage any amateur or pro with no ties to come and talk to me about getting them active as a professional. Our next show after this will be in Warrington in November as I want to give the lads I manage the opportunity to box on a regular basis.”
Farrell has also managed to secure a dream opportunity for undefeated Middleweight Nathan Wheatley as he boxes on the undercard of Anthony Crolla’s WBA World Lightweight title defense against the classy Colombian Jorge Linares on September 24th at the Manchester Arena.
“I’ve got to thank both Eddie Hearn and Joe Gallagher for getting Nathan on in September. Nathan has been to Joe’s gym sparring both Callum and Paul Smith and impressed enough to get this opportunity. I couldn’t be happier for him.”
