The card from the Marriott Hotel in Glasgow consisted of four bouts which accompanied a three course meal. These bouts included former amateur standouts Kieran Smith, Jason Easton, Lewis Ritson accompanying the returning Willie Limond who fights for the first time since defeating Curtis Woodhouse for the British and Commonwealth titles.
Jason Easton vs Jan Korec 4×3
Korec started quickly however was stopped in his tracks by Easton’s uppercut. Easton picked his shots well and loaded up nearly stopping Korec in both the first and second rounds. An onslaught came by Easton in the third in which the tough Korec was lucky to survive. Korec attempted to launch attacks of his known but had minimal success throughout against the sharp Scot.
The fight finally ended in the fourth when Easton landed a massive left hook sending Korec flying in to the ropes. Referee Kenny Pringle stopped the contest giving the Edinburgh Light Welterweight a fourth round TKO victory do the visible dismay of Korec’s trainer despite most in attendance agreeing that the stoppage was correct and possibly could have come earlier. Edinburgh’s Easton moves to 4-0, 3KOs.
Kieran Smith vs Dimitrijs Ovsyanikov 4×3
The Scottish amateur star Smith started at a rapid pace against Ovsyanikov, proceeding to stalk the Latvian around the ring, putting him down to a knee in the first. Referee Kenny Pringle waved the contest off within the first 60 seconds after a calculated barrage from Smith. The former amateur standout Smith moves to 2-0, 2KOs, and will look to be progressed quickly in the pro ranks as it was obvious
to onlookers that Smith in undoubtedly a huge talent.
Lewis Ritson vs Daniel Bazo 6×3
Ritson looked to control the centre of the ring early as the game Bazo tried to make things happen from the outside. Towards the end of round one Ritson began walking his Czech opponent down which set the tone for the rest of the bout.
Ritson continued to put educated pressure on Bazo, who produced some good work of his own on the outside. The Geordie’s pressure began to toll in the third as Bazo started to feel the pace. Bazo’s corner retired him at the end of the third as Ritson picked up his second
consecutive stoppage against the game Bazo. Lewis Ritson moves to 8-0, 3KOs ahead of his scheduled WBC Youth title fight on March 19th.
Willie Limond vs Zaurs Sadihovs 6×3
The contest began with both fighters exchanging jabs and right hands with Limond controlling the centre of the ring. Limond stalked his Latvian opponent before flattening him with a perfect right hand. Sadihovs was visibly shaken and failed to make the referees count.
Limond announces his return in devastating style with a first round TKO. The two weight Commonwealth Champion is now 39-4, 11KOs and will now turn his attention to his prospective WBC title fight on March
The show at the Marriott Hotel which was a good affair all around, also raised over five thousand pounds for a Neuroblastoma Charity.
Lock Stock Promotions’ next show will be on March 19th at Glasgow’s Bellahouston Sports Centre where Willie Limond, Lewis Ritson, Jason Easton and Kieran Smith are all in action again. They join a card that includes a local showdown between Craig Kelly and Ally Black as well as the appearance of Erik Morales managed Mexicans Paul Valenzuela Jr
and Oliver Quintana. The bill is filled by the debut of highly rated Super Lightweight Craig Mcintyre.
