Manny Pacquiao Can Still Cause Floyd Mayweather Trouble

Despite being “washed up” Manny Pacquiao can trouble Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Before I begin this article, I need to state that I do not think Manny Pacquiao would beat Floyd Mayweather, however of all possible options, he poses one of the biggest threats to Floyd’s undefeated record.

People say Manny Pacquiao is washed up; people say that he’s old. And the critics are quick to point out that Pacquiao is 1-2 in his last three fights. When Marquez brutally KO’d Pacquiao the critics had a hay day. But lets not forget… the loss to Timothy Bradley was nonsense. And yes Pacman was knocked out by Marquez, but prior to the knockout Pacquiao was winning the fight and looked like his old self, displaying hand speed, power and a killer instinct. In his most recent fight against Brandon Rios, Pacquiao looked good, he looked fast; he displayed tremendous footwork and boxed well, virtually winning every round.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the best in the game… there is no questioning this. His ring IQ, his hand speed, and his reflexes are out of this world, but it is clear that he does not want the fight with Pacquiao. Mayweather is quick to shut down any rumors of a potential Pacquiao mega fight and has said that the fight is not happening and he will not fight him. Mayweather is one of the critics that is quick to point out that Pacman’s record in his last three fights; yet all signs are pointing to a showdown with Amir Khan in May, and I do not see Floyd mentioning that Amir Khan is 2-2 in his last four fights, he was KO’d in one of those losses and his two victories came against tomato cans.

Manny Pacquiao may be limited defensively, but he still has wicked hand speed and blistering combinations. He has power, although it is not what it was made out to be, and when he is hungry he is one of the most dangerous figures in boxing. One of Manny’s biggest assets is his footwork, which is one of the best in the game; allowing him to throw punches from all angles. Not to mention that he is a southpaw.

It is clear the two don’t like each other, so against Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao would be hungry and looking to prove the naysayers wrong. The hunger coupled with the southpaw stance, the footwork, hand speed, and combinations coming from all angles would be enough to trouble Mayweather. Although I do not think Pacquiao would win, this would be a good fight. Some people seem to think this fight is a mismatch, but believe me… they are wrong. I would bet my money on the man they call “Money Mayweather”, but I think Pacman would have a shot at the upset, and maybe this is the reason why Floyd is so quick to shoot down any rumors about the mega fight that boxing fans are so adamant about seeing.
