On Saturday 27th February MGM Promotions Scotland promote their second event of 2016 at the Bellahouston Sports Centre in Glasgow. The bill will feature 6 Scottish boxers.
The first contest of the night will see Gary Murray box Englishman Liam Wright over 4 rounds in the Welterweight division. Gary trains out of the MGM Scotland Gym and is looking to progress to 7-0.
Next up is 2-0 Flyweight Adam Mackenzie from Motherwell, who faces Brett Fidoe over 4 rounds. Mackenzie has had a frustrating time as a professional to date, with just two contests in as many years. This will be Adam’s first contest since signing with MGM and he is looking forward to a busy 2016.
Light-Middleweight Marc Kerr was to face Englishman Chris Jenksinson over 4 rounds, but Jenkinson was forced to pull out this week due to injury. Kerr will now face tough Estonian Aleksei Tsatiasvili, who has been in with some of the UK’s best prospects. Marc is looking to claim his second win of 2016, and to move to 5-0.
Jerviston Flyweight Iain Butcher makes his return to action on the bill, over 6 rounds against experienced Russain Sergej Tasimov. Butcher is one of the most highly rated Flyweights in the country and is looking to get into major title contention as soon as possible. Butcher’s record currently stands at 12-2.
The penultimate bout of the evening will see Falkirk’s extremely popular Steveie Beattie make his professional debut at Lightweight. Beattie, the winner of the Haringey Box Cup at 64kg in his last amateur contest, has an all-action style which is sure to expand his already extensive fan base when his professional career gets underway. Beattie will face Kris Laight over 4 rounds.
The final bout of the evening will see Caldercruix’s 15-0-1 David Brophy in action over 6 rounds against Lithuanian Vaidas Balciauskas. Brophy is looking to build upon his career-best win over Welsh Champion Tobias Webb in December and has his eye on a securing a tilt at a major title very soon.
Tickets for the event are priced at £40, £60 and £100. The last of the remaining tickets can be secured via any of the boxers on the bill or online via Ticketmaster: HEREby
