Friday night at the Olympia in Liverpool Coldwell Promotions will host a night of professional boxing featuring some of the brightest talents from the city including the highly anticipated debut’s of Robbie Davies and Junior Jones. It will be Coldwell’s 3rd show in just over a month with previous events in Sheffield and Manchester going down well and this has the potential to be the best of the 3. The box office tickets sold out pretty much immediately but there is still a few tickets that will be available on the door (£30-£40 unreserved, £60 ringside & £10 for under 16’s)
The show will feature popular Liverpudlian Thomas Stalker (3-0) who will be taking on Oszkar Fiko (4-3) in a fight Stalker will be expected to win and hopefully by stoppage to silence some of those who question his punching power at this level. He was a stellar amateur his nickname ‘the captain’ alludes to his experience in leading the GB amateur team at the Olympics. He is already scheduled to fight on the under card of Anthony Crolla vs Gavin Rees at the end of June so really cant afford any slip ups or injuries in this one.
Steve Junior Jones will make his debut against experienced Delroy Spencer who has had over 160 fights and at 44 years old his best days are long behind him but his resilience is what has given him his journeyman tag and Jones will do well to stop him inside the distance.
Robbie Davies Jnr will also make his debut against an experienced journey man in Carl Allen, Davies had several offers from promoters but the attraction of fighting on a regular basis helped his decision to sign with Coldwell Boxing. A lot is expected of Davies who’s amateur career ended with a disappointing loss at Mays GB championships but his signature was highly sought after and we shall see how his transition to the pro ranks goes Friday night.
Undefeated lightweight Sean Dodd (5-0) will take on Lee Connelly (2-2)
The show starts at 6-30pm and there will be several other fights on the card featuring Sean Lewis, Andy Colquhoun, Rod Smith and Paul Riley.
If you cant make it to Liverpool then you can catch the show on the Coldwell Boxing app available to download for iPhone and Android. It will also be broadcast on the website www.coldwell.tv
