Humberto Soto will face José Felix Jr. later this month.
The 35-year-old light welterweight was scheduled to go toe-to-toe with former WBO world lightweight title challenger Raymundo Beltrán on June 27, but that fight was scratched after Beltrán failed a post-fight drugs test.
But Soto, 65-8-2 (35), will remain on the HBO-broadcast show at the StubHub Center in Carson, California when he takes on the once-defeated Felix Jr. over 10 rounds at light welterweight.
Felix has taken the fight on fewer than four weeks’ notice, but the 23-year-old Mexican –– who has 24 knockouts on his ledger –– was already part way through a training camp ahead of a bout against Yakubu Amidu, which was scheduled for June 13.
The bill, which is being promoted by Top Rank, is topped by a vacant WBO welterweight title clash between former titlist Tim Bradley and undefeated 26-year-old Jessie Vargas, who holds the WBA ‘regular’ title at 140 pounds, and will also feature unbeaten featherweight Oscar Váldez.
