Gary O’Sullivan will fight in Boston next month.
‘Spike’, the Cork middleweight, will challenge for the vacant NABA title at the Agganis Arena.
He’ll face Melvin Betancourt of the Dominican Republic on the undercard of Olympic champion James DeGale’s clash against Andre Dirrell for the vacant IBF super middleweight title on May 23, which will be broadcast live on NBC in the States and Sky Sports in the UK.
“Winning that title gets me another step closer to a world title,” the 30-year-old wrote on his Facebook page.
“I’ve been training hard in Dublin [for] the last few weeks, and I can’t wait to get to work.”
Super welterweight Betancourt, who has been victorious by stoppage in his last two contests, has won 29 of 30 and has a total of 23 early evenings on his ledger and will be stepping up a weight to take on the once-defeated Irishman.by
